The retail sector of the City of Buenos Aires has been in a difficult situation for some years now, due to a set of factors that fundamentally include the decline in the population’s purchasing power and the decline in the number of companies demanding commercial spaces. Both of these issues were made worse by the pandemic and the mobility restrictions in order to address it, in addition to the collapse of tourism it brought about.
